Welcome to Uplands Playgroup Stroud
Uplands Playgroup is a small but busy community playgroup that offers a pre-school setting for children aged 2 years 9 months up to school age. We also run a weekly Parent & Toddler group for younger children (however this is currently on hold due to COVID restrictions). We have been serving the community for many years, celebrating our 50th Year Golden Anniversary in 2018. We support children to grow into confident and curious little people and aid the transition from playgroup
to school. We are the hub of the early years community in Stroud and are the starting place for long lasting friendships.
In June 2018 Upland playgroup was awarded Outstanding status by Ofsted.
Ofsted inspector Hilary Tierny said: "Children thoroughly enjoy their time at the setting. They are extremely confident, independent learners. They develop excellent relationships with the staff and each other... Children's behaviour is exemplary. They have a high regard for each other's feelings. They understand clearly about sharing and turn taking. Staff are exceptional role models who value and acknowledge each child."

D - develop confidence and independence to prepare children for their next steps.
S - support families, encouraging them to join us in helping to run our Community Playgroup.
How to Support the Playgroup
We rely on the support of our playgroup community to keep running. Our Committee fundraise for most equipment needed to provide the children with such a rich stream of education, but there are many things that we can all do to help out too!
Lucky Severn Lottery
Uplands Playgroup has been selected to be one of the causes that benefits from the money raised by the Lucky Severn Lottery. The lottery was set up in 2021 by Stroud District Council to support community projects in the local area.
For every £1 ticket our supporters buy, 50p goes straight back to the playgroup. This money will go into our fundraising pot, to ensure any future repairs or maintenance can be paid for, as well as funding the purchasing of new toys and resources for the children.
Follow the below link to support playgroup by buying your lottery tickets and to be in with the chance of winning a huge £25,000!
For any Amazon shoppers out there, did you know that Playgroup have a Wish List of all sorts of things that be would be super useful or fun for the children?
There are sometimes things that staff feel the children would really benefit from but we have to be careful not to overspend. Therefore we thought it a good idea to set up an Amazon Wish List where we can add items of interest, so that if anyone felt so kind as to donate something they would know what we would appreciate most.
Sometimes parents have added items from the list to make up the amount to get free delivery on a purchase. Others have directed grandparents, aunties, uncles etc to the list who have shown interest in supporting the Playgroup. All and any help is greatly appreciated!

Offering your Skills or Time
We appreciate any voluntary help you might be able to offer us. We often need all hands on deck for gardening or painting walls and general maintenance. We pay well in cake and prosecco!
We also love to invite friends of the playgroup in to work with the children. Previously we have had singing with Croc'N'Roll, a parent helping the children make clay christmas decorations, visits from local football clubs, and even some prickly visitors from Help a Hedgehog Hospital.
If you have a skill that you can offer to to the playgroup please let us know, we are always happy to support local businesses.
